Filming sets

My wife is watching this series so naturally I'm a captive audience at times. While I don't care about the story or characters I do about cinematography and sets and this series has that in spades. I really like that they're using actual rooms instead of stage sets. Being able to see action in the far background that isn't CGI or static adds to the depth of view. I wish more shows did this.

Agreed! It seems like the set has taken over some cute, little village in Vancouver...it's such lovely scenery, in my opinion.

Not to mention the outdoor sets! I thought your post would be about that. I had to look up Cedar Cove on the internet and, whattaya know, it's kinda near me. Near Poulsbo, WA. Whew, what amazing scenery, huh?? I've never been there but now want to go.

This show is loosely based on Port Orchard, WA and filmed entirely in Victoria, Canada.

The first season had a lot of filming here but the rest of the seasons are in Vancouver. Opening lighthouse is still the Clover Point shot

I agree the sets are amazing and while watching this series with me, my son looked up filming locations on iMDB site & it says Vancouver, Canada for locations. We live in Wash state & are familiar with travel times from some of the cities they talk about on this show....pretty good guesses, but not quite! Love the show! The outdoor scenes are amazing!

The courthouse and many street scenes are filmed in Fort Langley, BC. Moon's Cafe, Captain's Gallery and Cedar Cove Chronicle are all within a few blocks. I have visited the set many times.

reply

Really? Which rooms do you like?

The conversation in our home has been that it's obvious that they film outdoors to avoid the cost of sets.

reply

Yep, the cinematography is gorgeous. Too bad the stories aren't more interesting.

The cinematography and visuals are top notch. It's a big reason I'm hooked on the show.

I just caught the 3rd season on Netflix. I love the quaint setting of small town and water. My favorite shot is of the courthouse. Wouldn't we all like to have a backyard like Olivia's. I agree storyline is lacking and quite boring. Paul was likeable, but not a necessary character. I would have preferred the storyline focused on Olivia and Jack working on their relationship whether succeeding or not.

Hi fginaspy. I've been Marathoning Cedar Cove via Netflix for the past few days. Almost finished. LOVE, Love, love the series. Season 1 was fun. Season 2 was ok. Season 3 a little more humor.
