Characters need to grow up.

I like the show but these people act like they're in junior high when it comes to relationships. Especially Judge Olivia who is very flirty with new men in town. And what about Grace who almost messed up her relationship by seeing an old boyfriend? Oh and the judge's daughter. How easily she forgot about her boyfriend. Oh well, it's a TV show after all.

On another note, I thought the new DA looked familiar, then a commercial came on; he's the Maytag man. LOL!

Hahaha! I thought it was the Maytag guy! ;-)

Unfortunately I have to agree. The series started with promise but thereafter it was followed with disappointment and the beginning of season 3 seems to indicate that not much has changed. I don't know how much longer I can watch these characters act so childishly. In my opinion, the Justine character has to be the worst and when compared to the others, that's pretty bad.

She calls her ex fiancée, whom she cheated on, not out of any concern for him or because she's sorry or feels bad about what she did, but only at the behest of the guy she cheated with so she can have closure and feel better about herself and her relationship with the new guy. Wow!

What is with this Jerry character (Jack's new boss/ex-wife) I found myself laughing in disbelief when Jerry said to Jack "You are a better writer when you drink." What kind of friend says this to another? Jerry must be mentally challenged. This entire 2-hour season premiere was very interesting.
Good to see lots of old characters come back and happy to see some new characters thrown into the mix in S3 e2 (which comes on next week) has Maryellen returning to town. I hope she and John have not broken up I believe they are cute together. I kind of ship the new D.A. and Rebecca Jennigs together. Their argument during the season premiere had lots of sexual/romantic chemistry between them.

I think it's idiotic of Jack to suddenly pressure Olivia into moving in together. They are hanging onto this relationship by their fingernails and suddenly he wants to take this serious step?

I am finding that I don't like Jack this season at all. While Olivia caught him drinking and lying to her, he all of a sudden is able to stop drinking again - then wants to fast forward the relationship by asking her to move in with him. I wouldn't trust him either. Also, of all of the jobs he could find, why did he agree to work with his ex? That is just asking for trouble in my opinion. I'm almost wishing Olivia would start dating the new DA and Jack would start dating his new female AA partner. The other character that is still annoying to me is Justine. She FINALLY decides to do something with her life besides focus on her many current or ex boyfriends . She enrolls in school - but hasn't started yet, and moves out. However, she is not much better than she was last season. She gets a "pretend" job with her uncle versus actually looking for work. She asks her ex's boss to give her "current" boyfriend a job. I mean, who does that? In last night's episode, she spots yet another "soul that needs saving" and spreads his business all over town. I think the writers of this show need to do something better with her character - as she doesn't seem to have a purpose and her sole job is to get into other peoples's business (for the purpose of "saving" them) and eat lunch/go to coffee and dates all day with her current boyfriend of the day - all while trying to look as if she is an innocent angel! I am glad they got rid of Jack's son. He was also annoying and useless in the show, in my opinion. Basically, the people in Cedar Cove don't live in the real world. They do not have any major problems, life is just a leisure stroll in the park (which a lot of them do all day - walk in the park). I only wish my life could be this simple.

Yes to everything. I can't stand Jack.

I love Jack in season 1 but I'm heading into season 2.

I can stand what they've done to Justines hair, lol

People, this is the Hallmark Channel. This is Cedar Cove. Their product makes Lifetime Movies look like, well, almost AMC qualtity. OK, not that good but way better than the stuff on Hallmark. It makes me really worry about the quality of the much anticipated Jesse Stone movies. Hallmark just does not do quality drama. I know this is hard for the fan base to accept but it is true. Tom Selleck good luck!

Is more Jesse Stone on the way? Whoohoo

I like the show, but in the last episode it just seems so unrealistic of Maryellen to burst the balloon of happiness for her mother's engagement (it seems inconsiderate and selfish). Who would do that? If she were getting married, would her mother refuse to help or be in the wedding because she had a relationship that ended? No. No one does that. Just really disappointed with that situation. Now her mother will elope to appease her daughter? Ugh!

reply

I agree totally. I thought that was very selfish and childish of her to think/act that way just because her boyfriend did not ask her to marry him before her mom got engaged. I was particularly bothered by the scene where she leaves her mom at the bridal store while she was trying on wedding dresses. That was horrible! She should be there for her mom's big day no matter what! Now, she all of a sudden wants to participate. If she were my daughter, I'd tell her thanks but no thanks. Shame on Maryellen.

I can't stand justine. Her boyfriend has told her he never wants children. He has made it clear and just like so many other young women justine believes she can change him, especially after marriage. If she was grown up she would know to end it now so resentment doesn't build between them, and try and find someone who has the same life goals.
Her whining at him would send me packing for the high seas too..

I really like the setting, but the soap opera stuff is pretty hard to watch sometimes. I want ALL of these characters to grow up...but I guess that equates to pretty tepid writing. Boring stuff mostly. Justine, for Pete's sake, he doesn't want kids, move on. Is the town so small you just can't find anyone else to torture? Ugh. Olivia, for such a savvy Judge, you seem to be in over your head in your own life. Learn to cook, BTW. It's not that hard. I'm not surprised it's not coming back for another season.
