Only to the extent that she is the spinster/widower aunt who dishes out wisdom advices. Dr Ruth and Aunt Vanessa are two very different personalities, in fact. The former is a science person (clinical psychologist for the criminally insane); the latter delves into tarrot cards, astrology, and magic. Dr Ruth is an urban person who thrives in London and only later decides to embrace rural Cornwall. Aunt Vanessa, I think, dislikes the city and is perfectly at home in rural south of France.

I doubt its exactly the same.
