Not believable
it just felt thrown together, especially the marriage proposal at the end. To me there was just no chemistry between Emma Stone and Colin Ferth. There was no urge to root for them as a couple.

shareI concur.
My thought exactly after having just finished watching it
shareI agree. It felt pushed, like why can't the story portray a simple, deep friendship between a man and a woman? There was no romantic chemistry whatsoever, Stanley himself wasn't interested in Sophie, in any case it would be no more than a crush she felt for him that branched out of admiration for his work and his personality, his stubborness and his will to not let tricks cloud his mind. But no, instead of that Allen decides to just throw them in together, a couple with no chemistry and a difficult to ignore age gap, he separates Stanley from Olivia (why do directors keep tearing apart good couples just for the sake of a new romance???!) and on top of that the movie becomes completely predictable and tasteless.
The love trope, people need to understand, is not absolutely necessary to make a good story.
I agree, plus she was going to marry Brice whom would have made a great husband for her. If I can add to your commentary, why must money and success always lose out to newly found short lived romance. He was engaged, she accepted or was going to accept a marriage proposal. So already neither relationship was taken seriously so how could they possibly feel they are right for each other. They both are shallow.

Really? You'd want the ukulele guy around for the rest of your life? You must be a man, trying to relate to women. I don't think any woman could stand that puppy around for long.
It's a movie. Not meant to be believable.
