Great poetry but a missed opportunity.

The best scenes were the poetry and the scenes with Caitlin and his daughter in Wales. But to be honest I was bored by the endless bars, drinking and coughing. They became much of a muchness and I was left waiting for the end. Most of the scenes dealing with Dylan's life in Wales on the other hand, were both interesting and poignant. How much drinking and how many hangovers do we need to see he's an alcoholic ?

I have to agree. I know this was predominantly
about his time in New York, but alcohol turned him into a bore. The poetry especially when recited so brilliantly by Tom Hollander in the style of Dylan and the character of Caitlin played by Essie Davis were what kept me watching until the end. Ewen Bremner was also very good.

The poetry recitals were interesting the other bits consisted of another boring alcoholic writer.

For those who know of Thomas intimately through the biogs, does the film portray Caitlin accurately? I thought she was "more of a rebel than Dylan", yet she seems more like a hausfrau here...
