Don't waste your time; watch something else.

Poorly written with virtually no character development for Malcolm. He is just unrelentingly unpleasant and self-absorbed; we never see him exercising the considerable charm that drew so many women to him (and that make sociopaths so interesting as dramatic fodder). As a viewer, I soon grew weary of this one-dimensionality -- and as a viewer drawn by the good cast, I was annoyed to find that the writers and producers had violated one of the key requirements of good drama.

It also fails to make good use of the talented Reece Shearsmith, who almost certainly could have shown many sides of Malcolm -- doubly frustrating. (Watch "A Quiet Night In -- an ep of Inside No. 9 -- to see how much he conveys with just one split-second expression.)

There's a LOT of good drama (and dramas with suspense) out there; give this one a pass.
