Would be better if Rick and Morty kept it all a secret

I cant help but think it would be a better show if they all thought rick was simply bonkers....and only morty knew the truth and went on their secret adventures.

Still an amazing show but I think this would of made it better and last longer

No thanks.

Pretty tired of the "secret" cliche.

reply

AGREED! Part of what makes the show so good is that it's as much about a family as it is about "high-concept sci-fi rigamaroles"

I'll trade you my t-shirt for a grilled cheese!

No thank you.

The more people involved the more stories can be told. And what do you mean it would "last longer"? We have no idea how long the show is going to last, so how can you possibly think you have an idea that would make it "last longer"? If anything limiting the amount of main characters would make them run out of ideas sooner.

If we had it your way we would have missed out on Jerry and Beth going to marriage counseling.

Jerry-borie.

The best day of Jerry's life being a low powered simulation.

Mr. Poopybutthole.

The Meseeks.

(anyone else feel free to add to this list...)

And rick going on adventures with other family members.

"Keep Summer Safe" car command.

"Get Schwifty" and the Giant Head religion.

The episode where Jerry was going to donate his dick.

How about the entire season 2 finale and the cliffhanger it left us on, not just with what will become of Rick, but the rest of the family as well, and the entire planet Earth being a part of the Galactic Federation.

💡There is no movie in Ba Sing Se💡

The fact that all of Rick's family is in on it makes it great. They just have casual discussions about alien fruit, people getting married to birdpersons and what have you. It's all completely absurd but somehow seems perfectly normal by people like Beth and Jerry.

reply

all that stuff could of happened...after getting intoduced to the whacky alien world after a couple seasons...but then the show wouldn't have the gender equality i guess.

reply

Yeah I do not like it when shows keep their characters out of the loop.

Nobody exists on purpose. Nobody belongs anywhere. Everybody's gonna die. ...Come watch TV?

I love that. My favourite is when they find a huge horrifying alien shackled in the basement. And Jerry just goes 'oh real nice. Reeeeeal nice. Look at this. Reeeeal nice. Reeeeea-'

reply

That's what I thought the show was going to be. And endless stream of close calls about the family finding out.

I'm so glad it is not. It is an overused device. I think some of the best interactions are when Summer and Rick are paired up.

I just watched the first season and at first I was a bit of afraid about that as well, especially after the first episode. But then the family members started to get more in loop quite quickly and I think the series better with that.

Trying to hide the whole whacky adventures thing would have gotten old pretty quickly and would have enede up only as a creative shackle when every episode would have tried to twist things so, that no one else would find out.

reply

I wouldn't say that it would have been a creative shackle. Phineas and Ferb managed to use the device very creatively. But the attitude in R&M is benefited by everyone being in on what is going on.

I just like how it adds to the nihilism of the show. Its like who cares if you know about it or not. Rick's so powerful Its not like the family or world governments can do anything about it. The only real secret rick and morty had was when they accidently cronburged their real earth and teleported to another version of earth murdered themeselves(There parralel selves) and took over their lives after buring them in the back yard. Even that evntually came out but it was like whats the big deal theres an infinite number of rick and mortys in the universe.

I always hated when Big Bird tried to convince everyone else that Mr. Snuffleupagus was real.
Glad they don't use the http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/InvisibleToNormals trope.

Or when sproket from fragile rock coulden't get Docs attention when the fragiles were running around. When he finally sees them for the first time when he was moving to the dessert we all knew that was the last episode of the show. :(

reply

Nope. Totally disagree. RnM do *beep* and the universe changes.

How could it all be kept secret? How could we have a Meseeks episode? Much better having everyone try to cope with the chaos.

Doesn't matter since in one of the parallel universes, they probably do keep their activities hidden from the family.

Besides, Rick keeps a lot to himself and there is a lot of fun when it leaks (explodes) out.

reply

Well *beep* me. IMDB censors this *beep* *beep* God damn *beep* robots.

reply

It was fine hiding everything for a couple of Episodes but *beep* got out of hand and way too far to hide it. Besides it's fun seeing the family getting drawn deeper and deeper into just how *beep* up space and the multiverse is.

No, no, no, no

I don't care about a troll who doesn't pay for his opinion telling me how to review movies.

reply

It would be hard with how two ended. The planet was finally discovered by the federation, had spies everywhere and took them all under arrest. It would be Rick potion number nine all over again if he didn't tell them.
