Dr. Who inspired in it's structure?

You have a main character that seems to be the smartest being in the universe and proves it, most of the time.

He allows himself to travel with companions, his family, from time to time.

He has relationships with seedy characters that do have an anti-hero or confused motivation style to them.

He understands time and has a grasp on dimensional travel, though Doctor Who has only touched on dimensional travel.

He doesn't always tell the truth and know more than he is letting on to.

He is a compete rogue and doesn't follow the rules.

The stories have multiple layers to them. You have the current episode, the story jumping across episodes and the story jumping across seasons.

Evil Morty seems to parallel The Master but remains more behind the scenes.

It's inspired from Back to The Future not Dr. Who.

The theme song is partly inspired by the theme song from DOCTOR WHO and the theme song from TINTIN. I just learned that today and I can really hear the DOCTOR WHO sound in it but I must confess I've never heard the TINTIN theme song although I did once see a small part of the film.

As the OP indicated, it's Marty McFly and the Doc from BAXK TO THE FUTURE, although it does seem to borrow from DOCTOR WHO as well. Are you aware there are only seven basic plots in literature?

1 Overcoming the Monster

2 Rags to Riches

3 The Quest

4 Voyage and Return

5 Rebirth

6 Comedy

7 Tragedy

Every tale fits into one of these categories. Most RICK AND MORTY plots are a combination of Voyage and Return plume Quest or Overcoming the Monster plots. Think about it.
