Smug

Every one I've happened to catch, the killer is smug as hell. They're sick, and don't deserve this spotlight. I think they should have to speak off camera.

Gelman was bad, like he really didn't get it. None of the horrible things he did registered at all.

I've watched 3 eps so far and Gelman is the worst. The way he even mocked the young girl he murdered was just terrible.

That's the only episode I have only watched once. I'm getting a PhD in forensic psych so I love these shows but I just can't with him. I just can't.

His eyes are freaking scary intense, and at the same time just empty.

I think the fact they are in the spotlight makes it work. Unless they are truly famous such as Ted Bundy, Casey Anthony (not convicted of course) etc, these people are not remembered. I like hearing them talk and watching them. You hear and see true evil. No remorse. Crazy eyes. I now know they are definitely guilty and deserve whatever they get. And perhaps professionals can learn from them to help in the future somehow. Other shows such as 48 hours and Dateline (both I love) most are "innocent". You make the decision on their innocence or guilt and watch from the victim's point of view. Just my opinion of course.

I think this was well produced. Unlike some of the shows they try to paint the killer as sympathetic but this was done in such a way that you do not feel sympathy at all for the murderers. The first episode of the girl that survived the spree killer, was completely heart breaking, my heart just hurt for her. I hope the rest of her life is nothing but joy and happiness, despite what she went through, hope she'll be okay the rest of her life.

Maksim Gelman in particular seemed to be enjoying his chance to be in the spotlight again. He seems to have relished his notoriety all along and was really getting into being the center of attention in his segment so I have to agree with you. On IMDb, they also use HIS photo as the poster for the series and the only video they give a link to is HIS segment which underscores again the fact he is being given the spotlight in this series.

I understand your point. But, I don't think they are glorifying the killer at all. They show you how cold the person is. Even if they enjoy it, they aren't going anywhere and nothing can stop them from enjoying things because they have no conscience.
