I didn't understand (possible spoilers)

They are trying to keep a book about the Brotherhood from being published. To do this they blew up the [spoiler} hotel in Los Angeles after Lacey left and now have stolen the manuscript from Lacey's luggage. The bad guys are all members of a terrorist organization (you have to pay careful attention to the beginning credits although I pity you having to watch this a second time...) called the Brotherhood of Thule and the professor she works for has written this book about them. Not worth your time really but you asked.
