Very good movie.

However, I thought more of a storyline could have been threaded thru the historical material. There was enough put into the film: the War years, the difficulties of family life and so on; but these elements are never tied together or developed into a cohesive story with a beginning, middle and end. They are just episodes that don't really go anywhere.

Despite that I really enjoyed this movie. The art direction especially, is a joy, even if it might not be an entirely accurate representation of the age.
