An interesting idea letdown by laziness or something SPOILERS

1. This can be ignored, but what purpose do the townsfolk have for allowing the vampires to not only live but breed?
2. Whatever the reason, obviously it requires virgins...if that's the case then the other victims weren't virgins + why not cover up the other murders? Seems kinda pointless to have a man be charged for the murders which would bring not only county but state level attention to the case which in turn can go federal and even viral due to the modern age of information.
3. If it's not the entire town in on it but only a select few townspeople, they clearly show they're able to track people who are in the forest + have become victims...in fact one of the original victims was found by hunters, most likely the same hunters we saw in the movie. If it was somehow other hunters, you'd think those involved would be keeping a closer eye on things to keep all this underwrap as it's clearly such a big deal.
4. It's every 10 years over the past 40 years? How did so many people, as witnessed at the end, get involved? It's either a town tradition or a really messed up drawing together that NEEDS to be explained.Because if it's the former then how did all those murders/missing people go unnoticed by society at large and if it's the latter then how did it come to be? Leaving it unexplained isn't keeping things mysterious or creepy but just shoddy writing. Even found footage movies can put in explanations, just look at REC.
5. Who in the hell decides to go walking through the woods for several days without taking any of the major equipment? Hatchet, knife, flint + steel, first aid, sat phone/gps, extra maps? These things are not THAT expensive. Especially since they are crucial items and readily available even in 2012.
6. They clearly got lost but had a compass despite the lack of anything else as per point 5...why not use that compass the entire time to make sure you weren't walking in circles?
7. Back up plan, going to little town in middle of nowhere, letting family and friends etc know about your plans. Maybe not shown but that'd be a big issue for those involved in the creature conspiracy...
8. For such a big deal to the main girl, she's completely half-arsed everything. Not a single bit of proper planning in any regard whatsoever, from the crew to the gear to the proposed purpose of the documentary. She treats her lifelong passion project like a high-schooler treats a random assignment.
9. The creature/s; can clearly operate in the day time as well as the night...decides to mess with them and only attack during clearly setup jump scenes. The creature has the virgin chick sorted and impregnated, why not immediately wipe out the other two?
10. Lastly, I may have missed this, but who was the old lady? Was she at the party? I didn't see her. If not then how was she alive after all that time in the woods, if she was trying to protect or save them in any way why not do more than bang on their cabin door then disappear?

This film had a cool concept but was let down by far too many mistakes.
