The thing I never understand

Is they never go on the hikes or filming of location before interviewing the town folk giving them the chance to mess with them. It's the same in every movie and they act like the Internet isn't a thing. Like they couldn't Google and get the whole story in seconds.

Just lazy writing. .

If your making a documentary, the words and images of the actual peole involved is certainly far more interesting than stories off the internet. First of all you act as if the net stories are going to be more reliable and accurate than eyewitness first-hand accounts? You clearly have no idea how often media sources get details worong. What is she soupposed to do, show some web pages in her film? Interviewing relevant people is exactly what you're supposed to do.

Agree. My issue with these sort of films is folks go out into the middle of the woods with little to no camping experience and worst of all, no weapons. Bears, hungry wolves, or crazy people; whatever it could be you may encounter... bring weapons! But none of these films ever have characters that do. Well, one. "The Frankenstein Theory" which I thought was a cut above the found footage genre had a tracker with a rifle.
