SPOLIERS: Last hour

Saw the movie earlier today and thought it was amazing. The last hour is really harrowing though and I am looking for some more understanding.

When Fabian brought Joaquins case to his friends and gave Eliza the money I was convinced he had realized that the guilt of murder was too much to bear and it was just a matter of time until he would turn him self in, like Raskolnikov did. But instead he rapes his sister and kills the dog...

Was this his plan when he went to his sister? What was he trying to prove? That man is evil, there is no God? Or had he gone crazy and didn't have any motive at all? Any thoughts about the curse that he mentioned?

I interpreted it as Fabian going off the deep end, perhaps out of guilt and self-loathing.

also the scene where his sister was telling him about the farm lands she had bought probably made him more mad.

"God bless the homicidal maniacs. They make life worthwhile."

Fabian wanted to end his familial ties to his sister that's why he attempted to have sex or rape her. He also wanted to erase his past, and his dog was an object of the past that's why he had to kill it. He doesn't believe in family anymore and he doesn't want to cling into the past. He is insane.

That's a great interpretation.
