Why didn't the script allow the non-white characters to be real people?

I know a lot of you will probably bash me for being a SOCIAL JUSTICE WARRIOR or a POLITICALLY CORRECT CRY BABY but the "weirdo Asian", the "perpetually horny black lesbian" and the "Debbie Downer Mexican immigrant" were all unfunny.

I loved the first Pitch Perfect but the sequel was a huge dud. I enjoyed the music numbers but the humour in this series has become worryingly mean spirited. Even the Fat Amy stuff has become annoying. Yeah, I get it - it's a COMEDY. Comedy isn't supposed to be polite - BUT - can there be more of an effort, in future films, to make the ladies of colour as human as the main characters?

I was really disappointed by this film. Very few laughs and a lazy script.

Anyone else agree or will everyone reply with "Cool story, Bro"?

I feel the movie makes fun of these stereotypes on purpose to show how silly the stereotypes are themselves. You and I get the joke but the typical neanderthals would not.

Honestly a lot of the characters are one note. Beca is constantly broody and even though a major member of the Bellas, never seems that invested in the group. Fat Amy is just the funny one who is overweight. Emily is the happy go lucky newbie. Chloe was kind of different people between the first and second film but not because she had any growth.

Honestly none of these characters are well fleshed out. Beca did have growth in the first movie but not in this one (and seemed to revert in this one). I agree that the minority characters are stereotyped especially the Latin girl. The black girl (sorry forget her name) I feel is moreso given lesbian stereotypes than race based ones but she did have both. Each character seems to just fit a certain trope. We also have the girl who sleeps around a lot and has no other character role than that. Aubrey even fit a box of being the bossy over achiever (but she did have growth in the first movie).

I love these movies and can understand your criticism. However I think the film makes fun of everyone and I don't think the main girls are that much more fleshed out. However if any of the characters were the worst, it is the Latin girl. Although the Asian girl is the weirdo I don't think they stereotyped her race for why she acted that way.
