Hate the Flashlight Song

I don't get how that was seen as so good that it became produced and a part of their final performance. It was generic crap. It reminds me of that Friday song, a lame attempt at a pop song that is bad enough to be entertaining.

Why does it always happen when there needs to be a piece of art as a central part of a movie--that's created specifically for that movie--it usually isn't very good?

It is pretty generic pop and not really a finale-worthy song but nearly every song the Bella's sing can be categorized as generic pop. That's what wins the crowds over.

Jessie J probably wrote that song in 15 minutes in her bedroom.

Agree. I hated it as well. And when they played it on the radio - hates it even more. So disappointing.

I agree it's not a very impressive song. However just having caught the end again on TV I can somewhat buy them winning. I think they would get points for having an original song. Plus a lot of older generation Bellas returned which I actually thought was pretty cool. I think a more satisfying ending would have been for them to lose but still place in the competition. It'd still get the school huge publicity and make it hard for them to still remove the Bellas from campus.

... even though it's impossible. All those airline tickets plus room food and beverage for that whole crowd.

Oh -- and hundreds of hours of rehearsal.
And matching outfits.
And ... reality.

I think the idea of the older Bellas was that it gave them more voices. Remember early in the movie when they first see Das Sound Machine, they were asking "How can we compete with a group that size?" The extra voices allowed them to thicken their sound, but unfortunately they didn't do that much with them really.

And that was because of that lame Flashlight song. The chorus isn't so bad, but the verses - when the song starts it's just the same melody over and over. Dull.

I hate that song too, but I think Jesse J sounds amazing in it. The words are weak. I'm sure my 13 year old niece could write a song with better lyrics.

I hate the song, but I liked it for the movie because it really sounds like something a college Freshman would write.

They're talking about fictional characters. FICTIONALCHARACTERS!
