Did he PROVE he could LIVE there?

You have to look at three things in my opinion: food, water, shelter.

For 45 he survived off snails and small crab. Iirc from another survival show those crabs are jam packed with bugs and not worth it unless thoroughly cooked. At one point his pot wore out and he unsuccessfully tried to use a seashell. That night he was violently ill and called for help.

Now I'm not saying that calling for help disqualifies you, but it shows how unreliable that food source was. It was not enough. Then, later in the show, being extremely lucky (I won't say it was faked.... but it was very fortuitous ) a goat got its head caught near the beach. His reaction was to calmly walk up to it while chatting at the camera... I'm sorry, after 45 days of snails, I'd be dropping the camera and reaching for a rock to brain it.

The bounty of the sea was completely ignored except for a small fish... which he only caught with the help of goat maggots.

Water was never properly taken care of, constant fly scrounging for water out of overturned sea shells... no "well" was dug, sea water wasn't boiled into steam and collected condensation... there were a few coconuts to save him.

Shelter... granted it was up at day 60... and probably day 120. However it took him 40 days to erect it!

To me he proved he could survive, but not necessarily LIVE on this island. I think he would have eventually caught a goat himself, though not by poking it with a nail on a stick, his version of an arrow... maybe a snare ? Only 7 goats total, so I'd hope he figured out night fishing (torch to attract fish, spear to catch them). Water I think he could scrounge for, and the shelter took forever but worked.

My only thing is that that bad crab could have taken him out of commission completely, plus 45 days before a real meal, and it was all luck? What do you guys think?
