Kornel Mundruzco on making the film, the law that inspired it

The writer/director talks about pulling himself out of a career rut, being surprised that his most Hungarian film has become his most internationally successful film, how he was inspired to make it and what it was like to handle 250 dogs.

Interesting.
I kind of got that bit about 'partisans' as well. I liked the comment about the different perspectives of first world and 2nd/3rd world audiences.
The movie did look really good for such a low budget!

Twice in the moveablefest.com article the director calls the film a silent movie. He describes it as having talking but not with human language. This film is clearly not silent and does use dialogue in what I assume is a human language (Hungarian), so what on earth is he talking about?

Because he's deaf. Poor guy, he still doesn't know the cast and crew went behind his back and made a talkie instead.
