Spoiler alert what is the ending so ambiguous?

He is smoking alone either a cafe or the roof? Does he ever go back to the IDF girl?

Personally, I wasn't sure what the smoking scene meant (if anything), but...

I do believe that the 'borrowed identity' should now make the relationship possible. After all, he is dead in the eyes of the State and his current identity makes him an Israeli Jew.

It dawned on me at the end the meaning of the title. I think he used his disabled pal'sname to open a bank account, that explains the mother knowing about it. I am assuming, due to the unfair policies, Palestinians were barred from having bank accounts at Israeli financial institutions during that era.

Isn't that how it opened? I recall someone smoking...anyway, I don't attribute special significance to it. For me the ending was the two standing in the cemetery, her head on his shoulder. It was clear that their connection is way richer and purer than his relationship with Naomi.

i think it's pretty clear his relationship with naomi is over.

the ending is open, he has assumed yonathan's identity and that's really all we know. we don't even know if his own family is aware of where he is or if he's alive.

i thought the movie was good, but nothing special. i liked some elements from each section but it didn't add up to something particularly memorable. i suppose the film sees itself as a meditation on the identity of arab israelis, and i guess it succeeds there.

would have been interesting to see this film split up into a trilogy.

I was wondering about his family myself. That is sad his girlfriend did not defend him against the bullies at the bus stop when they were insulting him. Although they only friends then. Maybe she was shocked they could be that cruel.

Hello, the movie ends here. His girl is gone. His best friend is gone. Does he have a new identity? A new mother?
