Do we know why the infected were after... (spoiler)

Why the infected were after, mostly, Abira?

I was curious if there was something I missed, or if it was as simply as she was bitten before and the infected could actually sense her. If that's the case, does anyone have any theories why being bitten once would make the infected notice you more than normal humans?

That being said, I loved the movie. I watched it with my boyfriend who is very critical about how films are, well, filmed ---as he's a video editor, and he loved the look and ~feel~ of the movie.

She was bitten but then her friends managed to drain the virus out of her. So she ends up having some sort of sent that calls the infected. That's all I got from it. If you want more info then send a PM to one of the film crew who have responded to posts on this board.
