After the credits scene

I take it that Herzog wasn't actually "dead". His body and head were severed and maybe he lost a giant portion of his sway / power of the undead, so he couldn't maintain control over all of them. Maybe he was only able to hold control over one or two remaining zombies and being a tactical leader he obviously chose the doctor, since he's his best chance of "coming back"
