Hawking's Ego As Large As The Universe

I've read a few of Hawking's books and this guy has the biggest ego ever. Sure, he's a theoretical physicist and he has ALS. However, there are LOADS of other theoretical physicists that are just as bright, but don't act like total D-bags!

Unfortunately (or fortunately) for them they don't have ALS so remain pretty much unknown. Have you heard of any of these people?

I think as he thought, that his fame is mainly influenced by his disability with all due respect.
