Why so much hate ?

I enjoyed it more than the first movie :) were you people expecting an actual horror movie or what? We all know the Wayans make goofy comedy movies that are always silly

reply

I don't know why some people bother watching movies like this expecting anything other than what they got. If they were foolish enough to buy a ticket and go in expecting something different then they are even more stupid than the script itself.

reply

"Dumb/silly/stupid" can, but doesn't always, mean "funny".

reply

and comedy is subjective

reply

You're contradicting yourself.

Exactly. You basically know it's gonna be a dumb, silly movie just by watching the trailer. So if you're a huge critic, why even bother buying a ticket in the first place, let alone go around afterward complaining about how much you didn't like it.

I also enjoyed it more than the first, even if it was dumb humor. I'd still take it over Scary Movie 5 or any of the other parody movies of the last 7 years.

Critics and general audiences know what to expect from a parody film, but being able to predict whether it's a good parody film or a bad one (the difference between "A Haunted House 2" and "Scary Movie 5", in your humor perspective) isn't possible just by looking at the trailer, because again, "dumb/silly" doesn't always equal "funny". Obviously, though, there is the potential, which is why tickets are bought. So faulting them for buying tickets in the first place makes no sense. Perhaps they were hoping for the next Scary Movie 2, and got what they consider sub-par.

All I said was "comedy is subjective"

Dude shut the *beep* up all he said is "comedy is subjective". Go argue with someone else who doesnt have a life like you.

Yes...we know the Wayans Brothers are goofy and silly. And after watching the first haunted House, I guessed what was going to be in this film. I only watched the first one once. There was so much racism and sexual situations in the first that I felt uncomfortable throughout the entire film but I didn't expect it to get WORSE. If you can judge an entire movie through a trailer, I congratulate you. A trailer shows only the highlights of a film, not the entire film. I'm disappointed with Marlon Wayans because he's funny without having to stoop to filth and racism. In the first film it was bad but in this one it was just downright gross. I didn't watch all of this one either and won't ever go back to it. Throwing out trash like this is an insult not only to his audience but to Marlon Wayans himself. He doesn't have to go this low. He's actually *got* talent so he doesn't need to take just anything to work in Hollywood - which it seems like with this reel of trash.

Maybe we hoped for a funny movie because it's listed as a comedy.
Sex with a possessed doll is funny?
That's half the movie.

reply

Have you never seen a wayans brothers movie? If this is surprising to you, maybe you're not part of the target audience (and I don't mean by the age. The whole reason the Scary Movie franchise was ruined, AFAIK, is because mostly teenagers wanted to see it and they can't see an R rated movie legitimately so they pay for something else and watch Scary Movie (and SM2, which was also over the top and rated R). After that they started making them PG13 to not lose money, and that's when it started to suck. Haunted house 2 is more like the first scary movie or the 2nd in that it doesn't pull any punches. Anyway, it's like if I didn't like Clint Eastwood movies and it went to go see one. Clearly if this humor is so ridiculous you can't even watch it, you just don't like the wayans brothers style of humor. To each their own

reply

Yeah, I greatly prefer this one over the first as well, probably because I liked the spoof on these horror films (sinister, the conjuring, paranormal activity 3) I enjoyed.

reply

There is no hate just because people express their opinions, because they are opinions, good or bad. There are some hateful people out there, but most of them are not.

By the way, I hated this movie too, even more than the first.

Why:

The attempted jokes are too disgusting in every possible way. That guy having sex with a doll was perhaps one of the most disgusting attempted jokes I have ever seen in all my life; and he is not funny, not in this and not in any of his attempted jokes in this and in the previous movie.

Then there is no story, no sense, no real funny actors/actresses, no original and/or funny ideas, nothing I like.

I liked all Scary Movies, obviously some more/less than others, but A Haunted House movies are really not funny, and the main actors are not funny at all; disgusting in every attempted joke is what they truly are.

I did not buy to watch this movie, nor the first, thank God.

Is it 'cus I like cake?

It was a terrible movie. Not funny at all, mindless humor and overused jokes. I thought the first one was okay and I'm a fan of the Wayans, but this was just plain awful.
