who makes these casts?!?

It seems actors and actresses are receiving roles in bunches for absolutely no reason. These new comedies are making me question who actually goes to see them. not one member of this cast is worth going to see, given their awful acting ability shown in the past, the only reason i can think is their general likability, which i also question.

Is the casting director

No one can question Zac Efron's "general likability." He has 10 million followers on social media. But your question is valid. I think part of the answer is simply "fashion." Why do so many people wear the same thing at the same time? An actor or actress who comes for an audition with two or three other projects already lined up probably gets more consideration - hey, those other casting directors chose her, maybe I should too.

Also, as I have said elsewhere, Hollywood studios run on fear. That's why we get so many sequels and franchises. It's always safer to do what worked before. The same probably applies to casting. Why take a chance on someone who is untested? Go for what worked before.

for sure you make a good point that they work on fear, clearly if it aint broke dont fix it. this movie looks very safe to me.. for example they know that the movie neighbours did well, so they make a similar movie with a similar cast and hope it works. Although if they went out of the box it would do better, but who knows

Zac Efron is likable no doubt. But even his fans, including myself, are losing interest in the repetitive nature of his films. His last two films, dirty grandpa and we are your films universally tanked and were panned by critics. And its all because his characters all seem similar

Your point has also been made by others - Efron seems to make the same kind of movie over and over. Efron has admitted that he does some projects because he thinks he can "bring something" to them from his own life experiences. In the case of We Are Your Friends, he has lived in The Valley and he was part of a posse of young guys (in their case, trying to make it as actors), so you can see the parallels. But the job of an actor is to pretend to be someone he is not. Efron needs to find more roles like in The Lucky One (he has never been a military vet) and Parkland (never an emergency room surgeon).

Of course, as I have also explained above, he may not be getting many offers for bold new parts because the studios and producers feel safest by casting him in the same kind of movies he has done before. No one wants to give him a chance in a crime drama or action flick or sci-fi role because he doesn't have a track record for that sort of thing. An actor can only take the parts he is offered.

This gets close to the heart of the matter. They see something that people appear to like so they reuse the same actor ten times in the same kind of role or just a rehash of the same movie.

Just saw a photo of the "real" brothers (this movie is inspired by a book of trem), they are quite similar with the actors, mainly Adam Devine I'd say

But still, the average joe, still wanting to get into the industry, is left with nothing.

Anna Kendrick was a terrible casting decision for her character in this movie. She's absolutely not believable as a bad girl. Fuck outta here with that shit.

I AM A FAN OF ALL THE ACTORS IN THIS FLICK.
