So, what do y'all think about this new Rock Dog (2016) movie?

shareThe trailer makes it look like one of those cheesy knock-off movies, like "Transmorphers"... in this case, trying to rip off of the success of "Zootopia" and "Sing", both of which I already feel are quite overrated.
shareYeah, I just started seeing the trailer yesterday. Had never heard a peep about it before. o_O And it does exude that "cheap ripoff" vibe, unfortunately. ('Course, Sing looked sort of like a Zootopia copy to me...or at least, another studio's answer to it and attempt to compete with Disney. Personally I didn't care for Zootopia, and Sing doesn't look that great, but I'll rent it asap.) ANYWAY. This "Rock Dog" reminds me visually of Kung Fu Panda and other contemporary animated films. Since I've begun rewatching Heathcliff recently, I immediately compared the white cat to my favorite junkyard gang member, Wordsworth, and wondered whether there might not have been a little bit of inspiration there. Guess the reason I haven't heard anything about it before is that it's Chinese. I actually LOVE Disney's Indian anthropomorphic-dog film "Roadside Romeo," so there's a chance for this.
