dont *beep* smoke!!!!!!!

what is this piece of s*** show completely funded by the tobacco company? 50 yo Real Housewives sucking on cigs is disgusting.

Did you seriously pay that little attention? You act as if it was glorifying smoking, which it is not. She was freaking out, so bought a pack, takes one cigarette and throws the entire pack away. Meaning she's obviously an ex-smoker and just needed the brief psychological comfort from a smoke. It's actually a demi normal phenomenon that I myself have done, sometimes you just have to give in and take a damn smoke break when life gets to be too much. But you can't seriously think a tobacco company would have paid money for a scene where a woman throws away 19 out of 20 cigarettes. That's a huge obvious sign the character does not necessarily APPROVE of what she's doing and only allowing herself that ONE moment of weakness.

She threw out the cigs one time, the next time she kept them in a defiant gesture. And I'm not talking about her "freaking out for a cigarette" scene, I am also talking about the hot girl smoking in the clothing store (like yeah..in california THAT would really happen), all the smoking at the club (albeit appropriately on rooftop deck), but my point is actually very real. If you do not think there is money from the tobacco company for glorifying cigs (and the hot blond playfully smoking in the clothing store was nothing but glorifying cigarette smoking), then you very naive. It absolutely is a factor.

And yes, full disclosure, lifetime nonsmoker, lifetime disgusted by all things associated with cigarettes, the stink, the putridness, the aftersmell of rooms, clothes, abodes from cigarettes. There is nothing cool or attractive and I am shocked that otherwise extremely vain young people about their looks, bodies, and how they smell would think a cigarette adds to that. I get they don't think of the longterm very real dire health consequences, but what an absolute turn off it is in how attractive you are, how disgusting you smell, always surprises me that young Hollywood still effin smokes.

I'm not a smoker but I find it more realistic that she's a smoker.

They all honestly look like smokers to me. Maybe it's meant to give the show some edge. Who really cares though? Just ignore it.

That's hardly the focus of the show. I also think it's interesting if they explore her addiction - since she was obviously struggling with it getting rid of the cigarette package. Relapsing it's very common when you're going through a hard time. Still, that doesn't mean the show is influencing the public, praising tobacco, or whatever, AT ALL.

What really bewilders and disturbs me is that Lisa Edelstein who uses every given opportunity to advertise and lobby for her vegan lifestyle and point out how healthy and good she thinks it is for the human body and the environment, has no problem to play a TV character who smokes. (TV characters serve as role models!)
Tobacco products contain so many toxins, carcinogens and other harmful substances that as long as someones smokes them, there's no way to make up for the damage they cause no matter how otherwise healthy the lifestyle is. And on top of that the second hand smoke is harmful for the non-smoking people who have to inhale it.
