I've Been Sizing Up Patricia and...

I have decided that she was poor and sat out to marry wealth. She doesn't act like someone used to wealth. She is old and needs to slow down with the daily drink. She has ruined her son who needs to man up!

reply

She doesn't seem new moneyed to me, if that's what you mean. Patricia is from Richmond, Virginia. I know lots of people like her. She is the daughter of a career military man. She may not have been born filthy rich, but they were at least upper middle class.

She acts as if she wasn't born into money because those who were, never have to be so pretentious and talk about wealth! She married up!

reply

Thank you !

reply

She hardly ever talks about wealth. She only talks about manners . She really isn't that pretentious. Most of it is an act.

Luann from RHONY also talked about manners nonstop and she is new money, she married then later divorced her wealth. Patricia is the daughter of a doctor, so she was definitely raised upper-middle class, but she is no aristocrat.

I really liked Patricia the first season. I found her hilarious. But last season, I found her to be catty, judgy and arrogant. And I'm finding her even more so this current season. She's coming across as mean-spirited.

LuAnn definitely was funny when she was always talking about manners this and manners that. Aristocratic women whether they're aristocrats in their own right, or married into it, don't go around making a big spectacle about being aristocrats. In fact, France doesn't even legally recognize noble titles, so really, LuAnn's title is ONLY a courtesy title, which means, it's really equal to a nickname since it doesn't carry any legal clout nor weight of any kind EXCEPT maybe in social circles in America where so many people are ignorant about European noble titles. LOL

What's in a name, though? I wouldn't call any reality star aristocratic by any means... But what do I know? I'm from Scandinavia, a mere viking.

Very few people in United States are true Aristocrats. Even the old Virginians and South Carolinian dynasties were made up mostly of Upper Middle Class Englishmen. Some were granted land grants from the King. They were close to royalty but very few if any had actual titles. To be an Aristocrat mean you have a title of some sort. When the so called Aristocratic families came here, it was mostly Primogeniture.

Agree & her butler/manservant is just odd. I bet he's really the guy who mows the yard & fit in the white jacket or something!

reply

I agree. SheAll her wealth comes from the many husbands she has had and is highly hypocritical when it comes to Kathryn. Shes very mean spirited and the way she treats and talks about Kathryn makes me believe that she see's her young self in her and doesn't like it! Why else would she be so nasty toward her. Then what's with her son!? Wow can you say creepy!! Ugh

You can never truly judge a book by its cover. Patricia grew up rich. Her dad was a doctor. She was born in Jacksonville, Florida, but raised in Virginia. While she certainly married very wealthy men, she's no dummy herself. She's been a professor in the past and she has her Master's degree in Art. I think it might be in art history or art appreciation, but it's in art. She's definitely well-educated.

I can see, though, why you'd think, though, she just married into money because of her pretentious comments and personality and having had so many husbands that were all very wealthy, but she comes from a rich family just NOT a southern aristocratic family like Kathryn & Thomas, for instnace, or Shep for that matter.

Her father being a doctor makes her upbringing middle class. The rich build the hospitals that the doctors WORK in.or, maybe my idea 9f rich is different from other peoples.

Dr's can make quite a bit of money. Although, money is usually on part of class. Its a socio economic backrgound. People here are talking as if she is like a cast member on jersey shore.

It all depends.

This girl I grew up with her, her dad is a doctor and owned his own building. The building alone is worth, @ least, a half million dollars.

That's definitely wealthy.

This is true. I think she is more Southern because she grew up in Richmond, Virginia. So its not an act. My family is from there. Its very Southern. Jacksonville is not Southern at all.

I think Patricia is used to having nice things and it might just be an act but looks like she is an alcoholic. I love her and would like to hear all her stories, I enjoy a quite alcoholic who drinks her expensive booze and falls asleep in her chair. That is the old south and I like it.

reply

Jacksonville not southern? Clearly you've never been there.

reply

Well Jacksonville is definitely more Southern than say Orlando, but its not as Southern as Richmond, Charleston, and Savannah

I looked her up and she actually wasn't poor. Her father was a doctor. She grew up very comfortable and then got her BA Magna Cum Laude and MA in Arti history and archeology. She did pretty well and owned a private art dealership. But she wasn't at the level of money that she gained through her marriages. She definitely married up into high society. I gathered from her bio that she is rather smart making her seem more insidious in that she does. Shes definitely more strategic than she appears.

reply

I totally agree.... Her son DOES NOT fit in with the Yuppy Charleston crowd... he's NOT from SC, and he produced the show which is really the ONLY reason he's on the show...it's just a way for him to fit in.... and that's the truth... he's not the typical Charleston money and his Mom is a joke.. her fingernails are nasty and chipped most of the time and it's funny to see how she tries soooooo hard to act like a Southern Socialite when she acts and looks more like the poor old single Aunt visiting from Columbia.

reply

I used to have an alcoholic friend from South Carolina, she would usually just drink herself to sleep. Until she fell asleep she was great company. I guess Patricia reminds me of her.

reply

She is from an old Virginian family. Rivals anything in South Carolina.

My question is, who died and made her queen?

Money talks, honey.

I guess I am one of the few people who like Patricia. She has the money (her house and clothes are gorgeous) and seems to have class (she called it right when she said everyone seems to be hooking up like alley cats). She gives funny pointed one liners.

reply

Of course there are times when Patricia is mean, aren't we all? Personally I would never invite Katherine to a party...she ends up losing her temper and making an ass of herself. She should be ashamed of herself. Seeing her at a party is like watching a spoiled 2 year old at an adult party. She is destructive. Polite company are fed up with her displays.

I love Patricia, she should have her own show.

reply

??? Her own show???

LOL

Who would watch? There's only so much attention an old drunk woman, who lives off her deceased husband's money will garner... and I assume that's why her son decided to bring Southern Charm to the screen using his mom as a comical prop instead of someone relevant to the show...

If the network thought she could have her own show...she would have her own show... but she's just not that interesting...I mean...anyone can spit insulting one liners about people behind their backs...there's nothing interesting about the obvious...but she walks and moves like she's 200 years old...all the plastic surgery in the world can't do squat about all that arthritis she's carrying around.

NO... she couldn't carry a show on her own. She's lucky that her son allows her air time as it is.

reply

Her own show but not on Bravo! HGTV maybe?

She was right about KD tho, drug-riddles violent outbursts are not fun to be around.
