That's not how I make doughnuts


The cut out doughnuts need to be proofed slightly first before frying them. You have to be careful about overproofing though. An underproofed doughnut comes out hard and chewy and flat. An overproofed doughnut however soaks up the grease like a sponge and turns into a grease bomb.

Forgot to add: For anyone wondering how you turn the doughnuts in the oil, you use two sticks to flip them over.

My parents had a bakery and i remember all the meticulous work that went into all the yeast dough goods.

I consider myself a pretty good baker but my one and only attempt at making prune Danish resulted in "Dough-zilla", definitely a proofing mistake !
