Why didn't the damn helicopter land?

That part made no sense to me whatsoever, then they didn't even offer an explanation, especially after the entire world witnessed most of what happened on TV. Horror movies these days suck, same story different setting and even dumber teens. I want to see a new horror movie with a good plot starring adults!

I think it was because they would rather boost up the ratings for the news report, then actually go down and save her. Either that or they were protecting themselves from the creature.

reply

Ratings would have been huge had they rescued her

reply

Stupid, wasn't it. Just land the damn chopper and get the girl.

reply

That was a little annoying. My impression was that some of the locals knew about the creature and others did not. The TVN News Chief who told them not to land might have been one who knew about the creature and thought the news crew would be massacred if they landed. That would also explain why TVN news took the story serious, and not just presented it as a viral hoax. The girl was running out alone, and the creature has a distinct divide and concur strategy, it would stand to reason that someone who was familiar with the creature would suspect the creature was nearby.
If it was just ratings they were looking for, I would think they would keep the footage airing while the girl got eaten. And of course, saving the girl would have been good for ratings too.

reply

Agreed. I think it was a mix of the guy giving the order believing in the creature and not wanting to jeopardize his crew along with the evil of ratings if he had footage of the girl being attacked and killed.

They really could've given this aspect a bit more attention...

Of course it's not ideal conditions for landing a helicopter anyway, and you would expect the pilot to voice objections to landing in that thick brush, so close to the girl they are trying to rescue. They could kill the girl and/or down the helicopter. But I don't suspect that was the reasoning behind not landing.

reply

I wondered that too. If you can't land, get low enough and drop a rope ladder. Also, why the hell did she run all the way to the helicopter then stop right at the edge of the clearing instead of continuing to run to the helicopter??!!

reply

I didn't understand that part. They/she could've at least gotten close to one another and she could have jumped for the leg of the helicopter. Also, it just seemed pretty dumb that the creature would have exposed itself like that. You'd think it would have been nocturnal or had some natural instinct to avoid loud noises. I mean, how did it stay a legend so long, being that dumb

who can waste time even watching this garbageĀ”?
