Rule change proposal

The home chef doesn't get $5K until their first victory. $10K until their second win etc...

chaos reigns

reply

Agreed. Also, there should be a penalty for losing a round.

reply

there should be a penalty for losing a round.

You mean like getting no money?

Each contestant has the opportunity to win up to $100k. They lose a round, they don't get the money that round was worth. That isn't penalty enough?

They don't get anything unless they win to begin with. They lose, they get nothing.

Each round is worth a certain amount presumably because the competition gets tougher. Why should going up against Cat Cora be worth the same as Chef Joe Schmoe from NoName Bistro?

If contestant wins the first few rounds they rack up nearly 20 grand. Win or lose the next rounds there still big time winners. Doesn't make for an exciting show for the viewers. Which is why it has horrible reviews and won't get picked up for a second season.

reply

20 grand out of a possible 100 grand isn't a whole lot.

Changing whether the contestant gets money, won't make the show more "exciting".

-The audience doesn't really get to know the contestants other than an occasional sob story. So the audience doesn't really care about them.

-The celebrity chefs the audience may be familiar with are on for 15 mins and then leave. It's barely a walk on role. So the audience doesn't really care.

-At 5 rounds, it's too long.

-Regardless of how much money is or isn't at stake, there's no tension between the two cooks. So the audience doesn't really care.

-We get two people cooking in relative silence - five times. The audience is bored.

-There's no real description or commentary on the food from the judges. So the audience doesn't really care.

It just sucks all around. That's why "it has horrible reviews and won't get picked up for a second season." Not whether the contestants get less money.

if anything the show should just be two people battling out over 3 courses

one homecook the other a pro chef

each round they win gets them money

if they lose a round they don't get money

the last round can be a double or nothing.

the menu can still be be what the homecook does normally

reply

If this were a real contest, don't you think the professional chef should get a prize?

It's so fake. This last home cook was too much.

My daughter has a congenital disorder. I need money to buy a device to help her communicate.

Oh, and I want to go to school to become a psychologist.

Not only did they award her $95,000, they bought the device, too.

Give me a break. I can only take so much nonsense.

reply

I don't get how that somehow makes it fake.
They would have given her the device even if she lost them all.
