What's wrong with the producers?? Highest rated and no Season 2???

I've yet to come across a series that has over 25,000 viewer ratings (and these are just those who took time to rate it) with the overall rating of 4.75 stars out of 5. Seriously, what on Earth could possibly explain the reason NOT to commit to several more seasons?
It can't be the following:
1. Season 1 totally bombed. NOPE
2. Lack of funds to finance another series. NOPE - not after the pot of gold earned for Season 1.
3. Fears of less viewers if series continued. NOPE, more likely they'll have triple the number of committed viewers.
4. Better prospects to fund that would exceed the sensational earnings than Season 1 of Mad Dogs. NO WAY, JOSÉ!!

Insanity is the only reasonable explanation. I'm all ears for any reliable information that led to the decision to cancel Season 2 and more.

I know, I was initially crushed at that terrible news too. It's not like HBO's ROME, another excellent series which disappeared after two seasons. That one is more understandable, for the prohibitive production costs of a period piece!

Don't worry, Joy, I don't think we've heard the last of it. Yes, the actors' option expired on Feb 29 per the EP (Shawn Ryan), but I'm sure they would all happily come on board for a well-written Season 2.

So...here's to hoping. :)

Some times you just have one good story for the characters you've got.

I'm fine with this show being one and done. The ending was an actual ending, not something that was left open-ended and then canceled before everything could be wrapped up.

These guys have proved their chops and I look forward to whatever new story they dream up for their next project.

Based off an article I just read, supposedly this was always supposed to be a limited run series but that the producers would keen a season 2 open if the series was successful, of which it was. Apparently the producers even had a direction they wanted to take the show in season 2 but that was not a direction Amazon was willing to go and the producers were unwilling to go the Amazon way so they are staying with the original limited series plan. It's pretty shocking. It's a funny, intense enjoyable show.

If they don't renew it then you could always watch the british version which is very good and ran for four seasons if i'm not mistaken.

Some guy in the seat next to me me on a plane from NYC to London was watching this series on his iPad. I was curious so I pulled down the pilot. Damn it's good! I can't remember anything so addictive since Breaking Bad. I love the plot, the characters, the dark comedy, the atmosphere -- everything. Please Amazon, make a second season!!
