Not an 'Original Show'

This is an American remake of an awesome British show shown about 5 years ago on Sky1 starting John Simm, Philip Glenister, Mark Warren and Max Beasley. Looks like a carbon copy of it, right up to the setting. Was an amazing show but I don't think it needed to be remade to translate to the US market.

And Ben Chaplin is also in it. Although he played a different role.

Is it really that hard to figure out that by "original" it means Amazon made it, which makes it different from their usual streaming movies/TV shows?

reply

ok! So it means one of many interpretations of the term 'original', as in 'we originally made it', but the idea itself isn't original 'cos we remade it

reply

Yes it is hard to figure out.

Especially when so many people, like the OP, depend upon others, in this case fellow IMDb posters, to validate their lives for them.

Most American remakes of British shows/movies are not as good - with the exception of The Office, which I think was much funnier in the US version!

reply

Shameless is also great. I haven't seen the British version of Mad Dogs yet, but I just finished the US one and it is solid.

reply

The US Being Human was better too but it might be just because they could hold on to the main cast. Writing in reasons to replace characters just muddled the story too much in the Brit version.

I really want to find the UK version of Mad Dogs though. Hope it gets released on one of the streaming services.

reply

no need to rely on those streaming sites, the original UK version is available on dvd and various places around the web. dont give amazon and netflix your money. also don't subject yourself to the streaming services content whims.

reply

this bugs me because amazon wouldn't take on hannibal because they just do 'originals' and then they do this

reply

it simply means that it is a Amazon show and not bought from a network

reply

British version is much better. Sharper, cleverer, better camera and editing. All around better. Compared to it the US version is dumbed down and made for a less attentive audience. Not worth watching - instead watch the British version.

reply

British version was awful towards the end. Completely spoilt the good work they did in the first season.

Semantics. Don't watch if that bothers you that much

Don't read posts if they bother you. ;)
