Burgess kicked ass this latest episode...

She improvised and kicked the rapist's ass, she even impressed Voight.

Good episode, they said she's taking a break from the show for real-life maternity leave. Wonder if they got the idea for this episode from the Bill Cosby situation. I can't believe those pick-up artist types exist in real-life, they're pretty creepy.

reply

Unfortunately all kinds of monsters like these exist in real life.

I hate when people think like that. It makes the world a place where everyone is worried about running into boogeymen who don't exist, and assume the worst about people who don't fit the Smiley Happy People paradigm.
I really think being exposed to imaginary crimes on TV causes elevated suspicion toward others where it's not warranted, and makes for a toxic atmosphere in general.

"Desired state of consent"

I just knew that bought him an ass-whooping, was just disappointed Voight let him go. But, I am PRAYING he slips up and teaches another.

Anyway, on topic, GO KIM! I've never been a real fan of her character. I enjoyed her partnership with Atwater but, all the bed hopping with partners just put me off. She's a decent cop and I think, like Voight said, proved she can think like they need for the Intelligence unit. Very happy they caught the bastards. Kim was really impressive last night.

Edit: Not stalking, but I just realized I've seen you on themoviedb also, Xcalat. Lol. I bounce between both also (obviously). I can't really tell where people are these days (damn you IMDB).

yeah I use this one, TMDB and IMDB2. :)

reply

Ah! I was on the IMDB2 but it was an absolute ghost town for Chicago (aside from Novastar).

reply

I mean this one: http://imdb2.freeforums.net/

reply

Yep, same. The only person that appeared active there was Novastar (for Chicago boards: http://imdb2.freeforums.net/board/197/chicago)

I especially enjoyed when Burgess continued trying to kick the rapist after Oliksky was pulling her away!

reply

lol yeah that was great.

Great to see Marina back. I usually miss the show during the week, but I saw a re-run from February and she looks great. I love those eyes, they are so expressive.

The actress and her character are good. Burgess is one of the more relatable cops on the show. She tries to do the right thing while balancing that against what the team wants which, technically speaking, is sometimes the wrong thing.

Playing that part Marina Squerciati really pulls me in, and yes, those expressive eyes, seemingly always too kind for a cop are part of that pull.
