Season 4 worth getting into?

I saw S1 and S2 thought s1 was fine, s2 kinda sucked. s3 bored me only watched 3 eps.

s4 any good?

reply

FWIW, I loved S01, consider S02 one of the single greatest seasons of TV I've seen, liked S03, and S04 is barely keeping my interest two eps. deep. So while someone who has seen the whole of S04 would provide more accurate intel, this reply should at least provide one stranger on the internet's relative ratings which are better than nothing after 20 days.

Same.

No.

I thought season 1 was great - s2 and s3 meh - I don't think I even finished watching s3 to be honest.
watching s4 now and I must admit, it's actually pretty decent. There's less subtle humor in this one - no funny Minnesota accents, minus one character. It's more of a straight crime drama - and not half bad at that.

So yeah - I'll still put s1 as the best season, but s2 appears to be a solid number 2, while s3/4 are very distant 3rds.
Keep in mind, I'm on episode 5, it might end on a sour note.

Furthermore, based on the other comments, it appears that it all depends on one's taste.
Given that I agree with your assessment of s1/2/3, you may find yourself liking s4, like I do.

I passed on seasons 3 and 4.
Seasosn 1 and 2 were very well done

Season 3 was good. Not quite as good as the first 2 seasons, but still well done with Mary E Winstead & David Thewlis as standout performances.

Season 4 I watched the first 2 episodes & just couldn't get into the story.

reply

I would like to try season 3. But is that the one where 1 actor plays 2 roles?

reply

Yes. Ewan McGregor plays Emmit (older rich brother) & Ray (younger, ne'er do well brother) Stussey & deals with their escalating battle over an inheritance.

There's also an appearance from a S01 character: Mr. Wrench

reply

Does it work? Hard to pull off the 1 actor, 2 character thing.

reply

Works pretty well. Initially he's slightly better as the younger brother, but comes to pull off the older brother really good too.

reply

Season 4 was shit. Chris Rock is funny, but can't carry a dramatic roll. I like the first 3 seasons.

reply

Just finished watching s4. It got better by the final two or three episodes but there were too many characters and plot lines to follow. And the whole gang vs gang theme seemed too normal for Fargo.

reply

Season four was great. I think some people believe that bringing a racial dimension into the narrative is 'going woke'. Set in 1950/51, rivalry between Italian & Black gangs, in the jim crow era - what could be more interesting.
