(Spoiler) Question about ending

I like that the cause of Lilya's death was left ambiguous - at least I think it was supposed to be ambiguous.

As I see it there are four possibilities:
-Lilya committed suicide
-She was killed by Kolya (who was justly convicted)
-She was killed by Roma
-She was killed by Vadim (or by one of his goons at Vadim's request)

Another hybrid option is that she committed suicide, but Kolya was framed by Vadim, who made it look like a murder.

I would guess that option 1 (suicide) is the most believable, but the prosecutors claimed that there was physical evidence indicating murder (trauma to the head). Maybe though that was made up at Vadim's request.

Lilya didn't kill herself. She believed in god. She didn't go with Dmitriy and returned to Kolya because Dmitriy said that he only believes in facts. She was very upset of her "sin" and wanted to kill herself but the whale changed her mind.

Kolya loved her too much. He was always passive against her. Even when his anger was at its peak. He forgave her. They had sex. At their last breakfast they both seemed happy.

Vadim also didn't have a reason to kill her. Kolya's house was already in his hands. There was no gain for him in killing Lilya.

My belief is that Roma killed Lilya:
-When Anzhela and Pasha came to take him he asked if they are alone. Why? Because he is afraid of police.
-When they enter, you see that Roma's appearance is changed.
-Roma said that he has been alone in the house for 5 days. Any child in his age would try to learn what happened to his dad. Also, Anzhela and Pasha are his father's and Lilya's only friends. Not having their number -even if it is true- is not an excuse for not calling them. He simply didn't feel a need. He was facing his murder and the consequences.
-When Anzhela told Roma that there is proof for his father being the murder, he says very confidently: "that's not true." Yeah, because HE killed Lilya.

She was so upset at her sin that she did it twice?

Good points definitely, even though 5 years ago :D

I would add another, obvious reason, that Roma hated her and expressed it. He told her: "you ruined everything! It's all because of you!"

And also:

-the first scene after "suicide" is Kolya asking Roma to forgive Lilya and Roma answering 'rejectfully' "Have you forgiven her"?

-Next Roma is shown asking his father to stop drinking as if he had decided to act more independently - he also said "I can take care of myself" at the end.

-Vadim asked "15 years?" as if he was surprised.

But anyway nothing is for sure.

"Vadim also didn't have a reason to kill her. Kolya's house was already in his hands. There was no gain for him in killing Lilya." - he might have wanted to "conclude" his victory by completely destroying Kolya's life (as he was spoiled af), but it's not that convincing.

And two more:

-If evidence was not fabricated, the hammer was indeed in Kolya's property - which would indicate Roma.

-For Vadim it could have been unnecessary risk: and we don't know whether he knew about Dima-Kolya-Lilya-witnesses affair (which was significant evidence).
