The ending at credits overlooked?

Is it just me or the real ending is after the last scene and at the first roll of credits? Once the last scene ends we see Dusty's boyfriend/co-conspirator following the family's (minus the wife) SUV, and the scene ends; during the credits it can be distinctly heard that the motorcycle goes near the SUV and shots are fired. The children scream etc. I think the husband is dead too.

I noticed it also, it was different and unexpected.

It was different and unexpected and that is why I liked it.

Without showing who was on the receiving end of the gun shots, I guess we'll never know. I'm sure that Don didn't forget he had the psycho biker still after him. Perhaps he carried a gun in case ran into him again.
However, wouldn't the biker be in prison for his gf's body in freezer, along with the other bodies?

Yes we do know. After the gunshots you hear a crash and a loud, constant car horn.
What clearly happened is Don was shot dead and his body or his head leans down on the car horn before or after the car crashes into something. That car horn sound in the movies is always bad news for the driver (and the movies also always seems to ignore the existence of airbags).

No because he escaped from the trailer via the trap door remember?
