surprised at all the hate

I came to this board expecting to find a lot of love for Girl Code. I can't believe so many of you hate the show (and individual girls)!!!
The women of Girl Code are smart, witty, and relatable (and beautiful). The show is sarcastic, and tongue in cheek. It's not trying to be the next "Feminine Mystique".
Maybe those of you who hate it so much don't fall in the demographic or something, but I think every 20-something female with a sense of humor should love it!

I love this show! I don't understand all of the hate.

Not everybody has to like everything, and not everybody of a certain demographic all think in with the same hive mind. That's the beautiful thing about being human and an individual, we all think differently, have the free will to experience life differently and gain wisdom and knowledge because of how we experience it. We also all have the ability, nature's given freedom of choice, freedom to like what we want, and dislike what we don't.

I love it and I am just wee bit older than 20-something. LOL, I can still completely relate to almost all of the topics discussed, and I think the ladies are beautiful and so funny!

reply

I'm 31 and I love the show. I think all the girls are funny.

reply

I'm thirty-something and love this show. I can still relate to most of the topics. It's entertaining.

Because it's a let down. Sexist, shallow, crude show that deems itself intelligent and feminist. It's like tabloid trash meets pop psych.

Just wondering, but what makes you feel this way? I feel like this show is equivalent to Guy Code, another show that is half-serious and half-joking about everything.

A bit of the old ultraviolence...

I agree. You get a gem once in a while, but it usually feels like complacency and "yeah guys suck but what are you gonna do?" No. I want standing up to the status quo and not just acknowledging it. But I do have to say, thank god we can even say this on tv, regularly, instead of the previous "let's never let them speak". But even the progressive insurance ad about women's roles still bothers me because it's not altogether a joke. It's still true. And it's painful to watch for that, and that all she can say is "enough of you" instead of every expletive you can imagine.

I was surprised, too. I love Girl Code.

Then again, this is IMDb where everyone just likes to spend their time complaining.
