Man wish they would stop making found footage films

In this age of 4K and digital projection (when they bother to taek the 3D lens off). Why are they still making stale found footage crap? its been done to death

I joined Inktip (a paid website that connects screenwriters with smaller production companies) I was a member for a few months in 2012. Each week they would send out what scripts production companies were looking for, and the majority wanted found footage, two years later I still get the emails and found footage is still the big thing. I thought the craze would be over sooner then later, so I didn't cave and try to write one. Now, I wish I did. Even though this bombed, the writers got their feet in the door, and I wouldn't be surprised if I see their names attached to a bigger project in the coming months.

I imagine found footage films are cheap to make which could mean more profits, they also give smaller production companies a chance as they don't need a huge budget.

Sadly, there are way too many poor quality found footage films these days and the concept is getting stale.

Should have lost footage?

This movie is even worse than that. It constantly cuts from being a "documentary" style of film to regular movie style. It is stupid. The two don't match very well and when you cut from a kind of overhead view shot to someone who looks straight into the camera, as talking to the camera man..
you loose your audience movie.

This movie is garbage.

What's your problem man? You wish they stop, i don't i want to watch found footage movies. If you don't just skip them. Why do you even watch them, in the trailer it was shown this would be a found footage, so you are just a hypocrite cause you like them , if you don't why do you even watch them, how would you notice there are many of them?

FF logic is to make more documentary realistic claustrophobic first person scary movie. you can make it more cheap, so indie artists can make a movie, you my friend, you are just a snob.

This movie wasn't great, but it was OK 6/10.

The reason why is some nice scripts and premise. Get wasted on FF movies. Not to say they wouldn't be poorly done by the traditional route. But almost definitily by the FF route.

And you can make a great film with n budget if well directed. See "it follows"
Pretty much got it all right on the money in that one.

Yeh found footage movies are getting pretty stale. The problem is most of them are *beep* and when a found footage movie is *beep* it's really *beep* At least with conventional horror movies when they're bad they can still be entertaining because of how bad they are... but movies like this and As Above So Below are just painful to watch.

reply

Exactly! It's sooooo overdone and it's not good! Right away when I see its found-footage I'm just like ugh great low quality grainy dark blurry shaky crap. And the movie budget is 6mil? You're better off using a regular camera and filming it normally.

reply

It was not a found footage film. If it was it would have shown them finding video of stuff that happened in the past and them looking at it.

Whine about it some more, maybe thatll help
