What Ravenswood does right...

Because Ravenswood is a spinoff of PLL, it's inevitable not to talk about the two shows. While I do like PLL, what I love about Ravenswood is that this show moves on. It gives us clues, leaves us with questions, but just enough so it could be answered in the next episode to move the story along. PLL, on the otherhand, does the exact opposite. It gives too many clues, too many questions to the point where everything is literally just red herrings. When the story seems to move on, something else happens that negates everything that happened before and makes me question "Did I just watch nothing happen this whole episode?"
Does anyone else feel the same way?

PLL is and has been the network's biggest show for years, so I think it's been stretched out for obvious reasons. They purposely drag it out because they want to milk their cash cow dry for as long as they possibly can. Ravenswood isn't as big as PLL and it's not even guranteed to have the longevity of PLL, so there is no risk in keeping things moving quicker. Plus Ravenswood is too early in the game for it to be stringing everyone along. I don't think the want to annoy the viewers just yet and want to keep them interested..at least until they for sure have their fanbase locked.

With all due respect, I think that a lot of what is said ^^^^ is a little contradictory. Obviously PLL has been on much longer than Ravenswood & one never knows what to expect, viewers & producers alike, until ratings are in and it's been separated from it's spinoff show. It is nothing like PLL. That's the beauty! I agree 100% that the Network is milking their "cashcow" as you say but I believe that given the storyline of Ravenswood so far, they could go on with multiple seasons and not make it seem like the first persons comment (which I had to laugh about b/c I find myself agreeing with about at least 90% of the time!). Let's be honest, there's a huge difference between the shows in that one continues to keep you guessing about a particular person(s) that is messing with 4 individuals. It is somewhat "paranormal" in the fact that it is out of the real of NORMAL! But I love the actual paranormal & haunting in Ravenswood!!! Not too many shows out there at all AND that can keep you wanting more. They've left us with PLENTY of unanswered questions, open ended story lines, and plenty of avenues to go down for more and more plot twists. If ABC Family is smart, they'll keep this show going!!! If I'm being honest, I can't believe PLL has lasted on some weak story lines but I'll give you that it's a decent show. But I'll take Ravenswood anyday. It's definitely peaked my interest (obviously) and I'm hopeful they will sign it on for future seasons. I believe it's faithful viewers, just like PLL, are owed a second season; the avenues of explanations as I said are endless and if nothing else, they need to tie it up. But not even "owing it to the viewers", it in it's own right deserves to be signed for a second season!

PLL is over the Top Melodrama and that's why love it, it reminds me of the style of Paul Feval, while Ravenswood is more like Dumas. It may be rare for someone to say they prefer Feval to Dumas but I am the self appointed spokesman of that group.
