Nicoles bra straps showing

This irritates me in the ad, you can see her obvious bra straps hanging out in the back when they show her walking. I wonder why the didn't try to hide them. Just an observation...

They didn't try to hide them because there is no reason to hide them. It's not shameful or odd in any way.

reply

It is very low-class and unattractive. They are probably trying to convey the character as downtrodden or from the wrong side of the tracks.

reply

How is that low-class and unattractive? Really?

reply

I can't imagine why this would bother you so much.

reply

Just a longshot, but maybe you need to go out more?

reply

Grow up.

reply

To be fair to the OP, there is a time and place to be revealing the bra strap and it does come with associated connotations. But i really don't care.

reply

Does it really, though? There are so many perfectly acceptable looks when a lot of a girl's/ woman's bra shows when she is wearing a tank top or a racerback top, or a spaghetti-strap dress, for instance, that I really find this thread odd. I can't believe anyone would even pay attention, let alone make such a big deal of it.

I don't know that it has any connotations in today's society. Obviously not a look you want to sport in a business environment, but then, neither are tattered jeans or tattoo t-shirts.

reply

Bra straps showing are becoming less and less taboo in real life, so it's only natural to see it on tv and movies as that's how ordinary people dress. That's why there's so many bras with tiny spaghetti straps so it's not a big deal when they show. Granted, this is more of a "young person's" fashion so older people might get offended. But I'd rather see a bra strap than a thong and butt crack.

reply

It's a very ratchet look. People only dress that way when they can't afford a strapless bra.

I think you mean "wretched", and no, it's not. You just have very strange notions, based on your posts.

reply

But of course I did not mean *wretched"; sorry you're not up on current slang. How far underground do you live where you haven't heard the term "ratchet" dozens of times in the past week? Next thing you'll say you don't know what twerking is. I was jokingly using the term because it's not part of my culture, but is so mainstream now that someone as waspy as me can use it. Not ratchet as in "ratchet set," but a "from-the-wrong-side-of-the-tracks" kind of girl. Strange notions? I've never said anything bizarre or irrational. I make one concise comment and it compels you to imdb-stalk me? Weirdo.

reply

My, my, aren't we full of ourselves! I replied to ONE of your posts, based on the TWO posts I'd seen from you in this thread at the time. That hardly an IMDB-stalker makes. Get over yourself.

reply

ROFLLLLLLLLLLLL are you serious? Sitting up on your imdb throne, settle down Joffrey, people stalking you on imdb hahahaha omg this is too *beep* funny. ratchet bahahha sounds like something a 12yo would say trying to be cool. Ratchet is and never was a cool word. A ratchet is a rachet and even if you were trying to use it appropriately as slang, YOU USED IT WRONG hahahahaha the audacity and arrogance is just too much for me to contain. I wish you could see how much you made me laugh. I bet you are one of those people, look at everyone laughing with me, even though deep down babygirl we both know they are laughing at you! If responding to a few dodgy comments makes you a stalker then you best lock me up and throw away the key lol best post I read all week, obvious arrogance is bliss.

On a side note, im currently wearing a spag singlet and guess what :O you can see my duh duh duhhhhhh bra straps! I don't want to go to out anywhere now after reading this, what if people think im a slut or from the wrong side of the tracks LOL stupid stupid stupid.

To the original post; I see your point and I notice little details like that, you are right, most tv shows rarely show bra straps regardless of the characters being good or bad, slutty or not.

reply

You're right. But if you are that old that this is a problem then you aren't exactly in this shows demographic.

reply

Aslong as my bra staps are on my shoulders and not hanging along my bicep area i couldn't care less if it's showing on me or any other girl.

So my question to you is, are you ashamed that people knows you wear bras?

reply

Not having a visible bra doesn't mean you're ashamed of it any more than not having visible underpants means you're ashamed to wear underpants. They are simply, by nature, private *under*garments. Unless you're a rock star or going out to the club, it's generally a don't. It's not worn in polite society.

The sky is blue

reply

Nope, but having one showing doesn't mean that they are slutty, poor or not classy either. That you are that snobbish that you don't see this is a trend a lot of girls are following whether they are hardcore religious, richer than god ( because of their parents), saving themselves for marriage or slutty or lower class.

reply

I actually think it's kinda hot when a thin line of colourful boxers shows from under your jeans. Not gangster-style where the jeans are around your ankles but just a subtle line is pretty neat.

I think there's obviously a time and place for every sort of attire (this wouldn't be okay at the office) and I agree that there are a lot of vulgar trends going on out there. But I also think the times have changed from when it was shameful to utter the word "leg" in mixed company or when a pregnant woman was "suffering from a condition". I think you need to loosen up and give up snotty terms like "lower class/upper class". And perhaps change the channel to Downtown Abbey or something. ;)
