Rewatched the PLL episodes featuring Ravenswood.

So, I gotta say I was much more intrigued with Ravenswood during the Liars visits in PLL, the people acted odd, there were creepy statues EVERYWHERE, people hung out in graveyards and gathered around an angel statue...

The Ravenswood in its actual show is literally NOTHING like the one in PLL, it's much more normal just with a darker past, and only two or three people act strange as opposed to the majority of people. And what happened to the angel? Or that weird gardener?

It kinda makes me feel like they must have scrapped their original ideas for the show or something which is a bit annoying. I really hope an interviewer one day asks for an explanation as to why there's such a huge difference.

Which do you guys prefer? Ravenswood straight out of the Twilight Zone or mostly normal town that just happens to be haunted?

I'm not sure which one I prefer.

After 5 episodes I now like Ravenswood as it is. We didn't see enough of the other version for me to compare.

But I'm thinking maybe a lot more people in Ravenswood are strange than what we know now... For instance, it seems like everyone was normal at first except Miranda's uncle and the medium. But we now know the blond guy (I'm too lazy to search for his name ) is working with the ghost kid and he mentioned someone of who was not going to be happy. So we may learn in the next episodes that the town hosts many more weird people.

I don't know, I don't think they're all that different. I mean the only blaring inconsistency (to me) is that it's obviously a completely different set that they used to film the PLL scenes. So I don't think we will be seeing "Ravenswood Park" on Ravenswood because it seems they left that scenery in LA. And I for one am thankful that Ravenswood is not shot through the same instagram filter as the PLL scenes were. But the town still does have an old feel to it.

The townspeople are all still pretty weird. Keep in mind Caleb mostly interacts with other teenagers who are in the same situation as him. The adults in the town other than the teacher are all still pretty bizarre. Spencer and Toby only spoke to two people while they were there, both adults. They didn't take too well to strangers. No one besides Remy exactly welcomed Caleb with open arms. So besides the different set, it doesn't seem like a completely different experience to me.

The plots are too different to really compare. On one hand you had Spencer and Toby aimlessly looking for an old lady, don't get any answers out of her, get distracted by Shawna, then leave with no intention of coming back. Caleb had a more specific mission for being there in the first place and kept discovering more and more things that he had to stay there learn more about. The longer he stayed the more he got used to the weirdness of the town including seeing ghosts.

I can't say which one I prefer because I can't compare them. One was just sort of some out of place scenes taking place during another show. The other is a continuously developing story of its own. The plots were entirely different.

Yeah, I should hunt down Marlene's Twitter and follow her and ask her what's up with that, maybe enough people would see it and retweet for her to respond. lol

I asked myself the same question. The way Ravenswood was portrayed in PLL was way different than the Ravenswood that is now its own show. The feel Ravenswood had in PLL to me, was creepier, especially the episode with The Great Charlemagne. Also I liked the way the atmosphere and lighting changed when the Liars' arrived in Ravenswood, everything became dull and grey.

I noticed that too and it bothered me. It was portrayed more darker and creepier in PLL and I liked the filter they used. The one in Ravenswood seemed to 'normal'-like and I think that's what drove viewers away.
