Meaningless arty rubbish

So it's one of these films "open to interpretation" and one that people will read all kinds of stuff into. Basically it was a load of nonsense by someone who has done too many drugs. Emperor's new clothes.

My thoughts exactly

I watched it and enjoyed it. It’s not perfect, but at least it’s not the same movie we’ve all seen 100 times already.

reply

I really liked the atmosphere... That sound... Very eerie, yet hypnotic...

Perhaps some movies are meant to be experienced, for us to feel our way through them, rather than to neurotically obsess about plot and events... It's film, not TV after all...

reply

Oh come you gotta at least admit it’s more interesting than most movies released nowadays.

Rick and Morty is far better than most sci fi movies.

reply

Yup. Hunnid percent

This was a good effective movie for entertainment. I like being able to enjoy these movies when other people don't. They seem magical to me. They will keep getting made maybe because I'm in the winning position. God is responding to positions in life. That's why 1999 was so good. I dreamt about imploding interracial nightclubs the year before. My position is that of a casanova. I get the acute tasty material....

I remember when I had my first hit of PCP

then dont call yourself a film critic then guess you didnt like The Green Knight then society has gotten dumber and needs to spoon fed

reply

"adventure/drama/horror"

the adventure was dumb: lets walk into an unknown thing that ate the last team... is the best idea they could come up with? I thought of 100 better ways to manage it and I'm not a scientist or military guy.
Drama was weak, I guess the horror was oka?

it's one of those films I immediately regretted wasting my time on, since it went almost nowhere, and will never watch a 2nd time.

reply

I didn't think much of it the first time I saw it but after the second time I appreciated it much more. Which also happened with Arrival. It's not for people that expect an Aliens or Predators-like movie

reply

that was very much my experience with both of those movies.

it's almost like you need a first viewing to get a 'level setting' mindset in place, so you can properly appreciate them on the second viewing.

i like arrival more than annihilation, but i enjoy them both quite a bit.

reply

I liked Arrival by the way. It made some semblance of sense.

What Annihilation does well is create an extremely spooky world and atmosphere within that zone they enter. The second act of the film is great for that reason. But the final act got way too other-worldly and drawn out.

It was a cool watch, but needed to be trimmed down by about 20 minutes.

reply

The final 20 minutes was the best part! (except for the bear, or was that in the final 20'?)

reply

Your mushrooms were supposed to be kicking in by that point. Try again.
