It stole a lot and then tried to cover it up with hammy creature feature gimmicks to my mind Dazed.
Sort of like that film with Mulder from the X-Files in it called Existence, only that was actually a comedy and didn't try to hide what it was up to whilst it was doing it.
Such a waste of good talent, but hey - at least Natalie can put another notch beneath Attack of the Clones for crap films she's been in.
I saw that JJL was in it (poor man's Janeway) and it felt like an Asylum film.Even the shimmer looked crappy.
Shocked that Natalie Portman went near this to be honest.
I was getting Interstellar,Invasion of the Bodysnatchers, Predator but not in a good way.
The effects were a bit dodgy Dazed, I think the initial idea couldn't be realised for the price it would cost.
The cast are overwhelmingly hot property at the moment starring in big blockbusters are art house film alike. It was weird to see them in such a meh movie.
Plenty of theft in it Dazed, I saw all three of the films you mentioned done but not at all in a good way. That initial bear attack could really have used some sense of suspense, perhaps a tracking through the long grass kinda shot to help build it and then a decent roar reveal with a poorly dropped torch to hint towards what it could have been. I'm left wondering why such a popular trope was left out of a movie filled with others.
But, not the worst movie I've seen nor the biggest waste of a good cast - if that's something they can take away from this with their heads held high.
Visually Prometheus is the better movie, story-wise (And they are both crap) Annihilation is better than Prometheus.
I can see the comparison Dazed, surprisingly outside of Benedict's involvement with both I hadn't thought of comparing them.
Both great casts with terrible stories. I think Prometheus at least made Fox some money. Lionsgate might have made production budget at best from Annihilation.
