Best/Worst moments of night

Matthew McConaughey: Best Speech of the night

Jared Leto: Second best speech of the night, but best press room answers and moments of the night (that I've seen so far).

Best surprise on stage: The singer from 20 Feet From Stardom singing was awesome and spot-on and audience loved it. Impromptu singing can be weird and awkward (ie Diane Keaton accepting the Cecile D. demille award for Woody Allen at Globes), but that singer tonight nailed it!

Most awkward presenter: Kim Novack from Vertigo with Matthew McConaughey.

Funniest background shot: Bill Murray looking up and around, then puffing his cheeks while the winner was talking.

Weirdest Segment (non Ellen): Whoopi Goldberg and The Wizard of Oz. And Pink singing Over The Rainbow. She did a good job, but it was just a weird tribute.

The Gravity Director that thanked his multiple administrations, both in English...then, was it Italian?

Best presenter: Jamie Foxx not finishing the sentence in time (teleprompter delay)about music blows (pause) your mind. Then he does Chariots of Fire while Jessica Biel reads her lines.

Alfonso Cuaron is Mexican and he was speaking Spanish at the end of his speech, not Italian.

And Jamie Foxx was excellent with Jessica Biel. You can tell they know and like each other, so no awkward pairing there.

Okay, thank you. I loved it when he finished his speech in Spanish thanking people. And Jamie and Jessica were awesome. Jamie Foxx knows how to have fun. He even gushed to Jay-Z how hot Beyonce was at Grammys right before he handed him a Grammy!! When he started humming when Biel talked, I was like, okay, what's he doing? Then he not only Hums Chariots of Fire but does the slow motion run!! Loved it!

The singer was Darlene Love (wasn't her best performance IMHO). Kim Novak suffers from bipolar and left Hollywood in her prime. She rarely is seen in public or gives interviews because of her condition. It was courageous of her, plus, she is over 80.

I missed kim novak and Matt M would have loved to see that...I lied kim in vertigo..

I loved pink singing

the impromptu scceptsnce singing really worked because it seemed genuine and talented and not divalike or showy

beil need Jamie or we would have fallen asleep by then

I didn't mind whoopi....shes often like that

to me liza minelli and clan looked on something but I hear she often is out of it

what was wrong with Alfonzo curan speaking his native language

what baffled m most was how unfunny ellen was..i would have rather seen a better montage of the nominees, a better memorium and a good tribute to psh...then watch ellen order pizza and suck up to the front row stars..tho I did like how on board and genuine brad pitt seemed

reply

I liked Curan's multi-lingual speech. I thought it was cool. I guess I didn't word that paragraph right in my original post.

Matthew McConaughey: Best Speech of the night

Yes, GREAT speech.

I really did like the pizza bit.

I did like Bill Murray showing enthusiasm from the crowd when that woman sang her acceptance song.

Bad:

What Kim Novack has done to her face is a true shame.

Ellen was mostly a big disappointment. The show really did drag. I has to flip channels a lot.
