Which season will they adapt next?

Its been confirmed that there will be a third season of a remake. Given that they skipped over Season 2 of the original and adapted Season 3, which season of the original will they adapt for Season 3 of the remake?

They could backtrack and do Season 2. But I guess that depends on whether or not certain characters survive the Indian version of Season 2 (based on Season 3).

They could go for Season 4 as well.

I don't see them doing Season 5, 6 or any subsequent season since those plots are kinda dependent on previous events more so than the first four seasons were. (Though, it MIGHT be possible to do Season 5 if they ignore the whole 'Jack had faked his death last season and was hiding' angle in the beginning).

I feel a mixup of season 4 and 5 is coming up. But I am not exactly a fan of the changes they made

SPOILERS for season finale

Given how that last episode ended, everything is still up in the air. But I have a feeling there's a possibility of backtracking and doing the original's Season 2.

The main players from Season 2 are still 'viable'. Aditya Singhania is still the PM (he will be once he's cured of the virus). Naina Singhania is still alive and in a position to scheme. Prithvir is also still around, and nursing a grudge against her (and he also has leverage against her with the video). So the whole Presidential story-line from the original can still be adapted.

As far as Nina Myer's plot from the original goes, they can either use Mehr again or, if the actress is willing, they can bring back Divya Singhania (which would tie more closely in with the political side of the narrative as well).

Over at ATU...Jai can start the season retired. After being shot by Nupur, he's recovered but he's not at his peak anymore. Also, psychologically he's damaged after the events of the last season, especially because of having to kill Malik. He's also been disgraced because of the rogue mission and the fact that its now publicly known he killed a fellow agent. But he's reinstated and called in for one more mission when the nuke threat comes up, just like in the original Season 2. Also, they can get someone to play the George Mason role as ATU chief (maybe even the actor who played Gill in Season 1) and Vedant can play the Tony Almeida role, eventually taking command once the former dies. And a new female character can be introduced to play the 'new' Michelle (or maybe Mandira Bedi can return as Nikita).

I'd rather see an original season.
