Asking for a spoiler. How does the movie end?
Hate sad/poignant/bittersweet movies. How does this one end? Thanks

shareIt's a bit like the ending to E.T. - it's sad because E.T. goes home, but happy at the same time.
More detailed spoiler: Eliot has to leave Pete with his new-found family, but an epilogue reveals that the two keep in touch.
The cinema seemed unusually dusty..
No tears please, it's a waste of good suffering.share
It was bittersweet for me. It really depends on what you're expecting or hoping for. If you're fearing a tragic ending, you'll likely be very happy and relieved.
Pete finds a new family in the end, but it's sad that he can't live with Elliot anymore. They do get to visit each other, and I hope that one day when Pete is all grown up they can live with each other again! :)
Side note: I prefer the ending of the movie novel - it's similar to the movie, but much more intimate.
It turns out Elliot is actually God from South Park.
shareI wrote a thread about this down a ways. Loved this ending. I was genuinely shocked when it is revealed that Pete is not the only one who finds a family. I'm glad there won't be a sequel. The ending is perfect as it is.
shareThanks so much. I hate those "bittersweet"endings that mean rights of passage.
