Didn't Gemma say..

That she didn't want to be cast in movies where she was seen as a 'sex object'..
Cause this is all about Gemma and her showing of herself and her body and flirting with a lot of men and doing her thing with them.....

I think she means something along the lines of Megan fox in transformers. This is a more tasteful take on woman's sexuality.

I'm with you, for Gemma Arterton claiming to want to tell women's stories and in a film directed by a woman, the whole film is seen through a male gaze and with the camera climbing all over her. While I found it vaguely amusing, progressive it was definitely not!

Jesus what a shallow grasp of the material.

The whole point of her character is that she was not what men imagined her to be. They will have their fantasies, of course, but she wasn't any of the things they thought her. Her husband didn't know her, her young lover didn't know her, her former lover treated her like an accessory, and even the older man only saw a fictional character when he looked at her. But she declares that she is not those things.

Saying she doesn't want to play a 'sex object' doesn't mean she has to be unattractive or asexual.

I like a lot your point of view, TheManInOil.

Plus, one of the writers on the film is a woman.
