SPOILER - MY ENDING - SPOILER

IMO is a nice movie.
A bit romatic, a bit erotic and with a French literature touch.

But, the end ruin in part the movie, because is a so tragic and incredible situation that take me off the plot.
I know that she must die in orden to close the book plot... but.. I insist this is not the general mood of the movie.

This is MY ending.

The old man watch across the window when the ex-boyfriend arrive to Gemma´s house.
Then watch when arrive the husband and he is sure that is not good for Gemma.
Them he decide go to the house to keep Gemma.
When the old man arrive, Gemma is on the floor and the men are figthing.
He save Gemma and everybody are happy.

In the last escene I clean the boy joke, and set the old man chating with the new neighbour that ARE really russian and her name IS ANNA KARENINA....!! and in this way begin a new adventure.

Atention writer and director, please next time ask me...!!!

The end of the movie is ridiculous. Seems something out of The Stooges. Kinda of ruined the film for me.

i certainly like your ending better, i.e., saving Gemma, and i would also chop off the silly part about the new neighbors.

The ending of the film is a sheer delight. It's a droll tragicomedy, after all. And it's brilliantly done, especially the reveal of what's actually going on in the struggle with Gemma.

What bothered me most was Patrick yelling "Charlie Stop!" when any sane, normal person would be yelling "She's choking!". That kind of thing can ruin an entire movie.

it would turn out to be arsenic, and that the baker had poisoned her in order for his fantasy of her life mirroring Madame Bovary would be complete - a much darker ending.

Have you read Flaubert's Emma Bovary? You need to have this kind of ending to make the viewer think the course of the movie is going to follow the book, and then surprise them.

A nice attempt, but not sure the creator has a sure hand on what the movie is supposed to do. Found the tone to be all over the place.
