Being aware of the camera

One of the worst loses of disposing of Golden Age Hollywood glamour and techniques was the loss of a seamless camera. You never felt you were watching a movie but instead reality, since the camera never called attention to itself. Now filmmaking is so clumsy that the camera is ever present. They don't know how to shoot any other way. I don't know what is the term for it but I'm talking about useless shots that only serve to suspend disbelief.

Example?

like the shots of the old man looking at the swat team, stuff like that.

I think the worst loss is that everything has to be painfully spoonfed to the viewers. Older movies let you assume certain things and if you don't understand it, that isn't the movie's fault. You had to be able to think for yourself. You don't need to do that, now.

The dialogue in this series is beyond pathetic. Donatella's dialogues were embarrassing and directed at the audience, it's so terrible. Everything about this series is terrible.

I agree cheapshooter - but today's audience wants 'instant gratification' and needs to know everything up front, or you will lose their interest. It's really a shame - no one uses their imagination or ability to understand, anymore.
