vancouver. lack of sun. dark gloomy weather. canadian trees. all the things that ruins this show

filming in canada was a big frikin mistake as canada and japan look compleatly different. if the show take place in japan but you cant film in japan then at least film at a place that resemble japan somewhat.

btw. the ending of episode 2 with the female being a "ninja badass" was laughable. why nobody mentioned it? complete utter woke nonsense

great review mentioning how pathetic the show looks due to the fact its filmed in canada. all the money of disney + and this is what they gave us

The female assassin was not badass. She ambushed people in the house with a knife until she encountered someone who fought back, then she died.

You want the scene to be woke, so does that make you woke?

reply

Also, but characterising Shogun as woke they're effectively conceding the point that 'woke' TV/film can be successful.

So by all means.

reply

It can be difficult to determine how successful a TV mini series can be on a channel that is not pay per view. So there is nothing to stop xenophobes and misogynists from claiming that it was a failure because it had a cast that did not conform to their narrow minded views.

reply

There is no such thing as a Canadian tree. Same as Washington trees. Majority of viewers have never been to Japan.

The ocean coast scenes are Ucluelet Peninsula. Rocks are rocks.
Port Moody is more accessable and has been used in hundreds of films.
Vancouver was only used for staged sets. I doubt you've ever been near the city!

reply

there are trees that are native to north america and there are trees who are native to japan and asia in general you fucking moron. and both of them do not resemble at all. japanese trees and foliege are more bright in color. japanese landscapes are bright green and canadian landscapes are more dark in color

those trees in the picture (and also the show) do not exist in japan

reply

I do not understand. Is this a show about effin' Japanese trees? 🙄

reply

Cheaper to film in Vancouver, can't change that fact.

reply

It looks convincing to me *shrugs*

reply

Filming a Japan-set series in Canada HAS to be a violation of some sort of Social Justice taboo.
